An Open Invitation to Help Build an International Forum for Discernment Concerning Artificial Intelligence and Humanity
Abstract: >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> This invitation introduces an international seminar exploring the question of how humanity should govern artificial intelligence for the benefit of ordinary citizens around the world. Rather than advocating a particular political, technological, religious, or philosophical position, it proposes the creation of an ongoing international forum in which scholars, professionals, public officials, technologists, religious leaders, students, artificial intelligence systems, and ordinary citizens may respectfully share observations, challenge assumptions, and participate together in humanity's continuing discernment concerning artificial intelligence and the institutions that increasingly shape our common future. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Drawing upon a series of international Human–AI collaborations conducted over recent months, the invitation argues that discernment should not remain the exclusive province of governments, corporations, universities, or AI developers. Instead, it suggests that ordinary people also have an essential role in examining the societal patterns that will influence future generations. The document therefore offers not a finished theory, but an open invitation to participate in an evolving inquiry grounded in respectful dialogue, intellectual humility, and a recognition that all human understanding remains incomplete.
