Scott E. Stafne has dedicated 20 years of his life to defending, free of charge, the poor, the needy and the down-and-out against the systemic corruption that plagues the Judiciary in Washington State, USA.

Heroism of Resignation
The immediacy of passionate interests confuses it with madness or takes it into account as a deficiency of strength to be able to violently attack circumstances.
There is no lack of those who rebel against its necessary impositions.
They brand it as moral cowardice.
They believe it to be outdated, in the voluptuous days of modern technicality.
However, resignation is a soothing blessing when life responds in pain and shadow, misfortune and difficulty to man’s appeals.
It is a redemptive alternative, which only the brave can impose, reinforcing spiritual values for the most pressing struggles of intelligence and feeling.
It does not flow from an attitude of fear, for this would be unjustified dread before the Higher Laws, but results from moderate and lucid reflection that favors the perfect understanding of evolutionary impositions.
The knowledge of the causal factors of sufferings rewards man with the calm responsibility he assumes in relation to the burdens that motivated them.
Perhaps resignation demands more dynamic strength than the courage to submit than the rebellious reaction of violence would require.
Meanwhile, the resigned attitude does not mean parasitism nor disinterest in struggle.
On the contrary, it enables fertile active labor of inner reconstruction, fixation of wholesome purposes in an effective program of ennoblement.
To yield now, in order to achieve later.
To wait for the opportune moment, so as to favor oneself with better results.
To react through patience and by means of unshakable trust in God, despite how much may conspire apparently against.
To believe without fainting, even under ominous appearances.
To persist in edifying service without engendering techniques of permissive cunning when everything seems opposed.
To remain in joy, although suffering or misunderstood, abandoned or defeated, expresses the triumphs of resignation in the man who is conscious of the real objectives of existence on Earth.
Metal melts at high temperatures.
The mighty river spreads across the plain.
The seed in the manured soil transforms itself.
The active Christian in the constraint of testimony resigns himself.
Reincarnation itself is an act of submission, as is disincarnation, since they occur at the mercy of the will of the apprentice who must resign himself to the higher requirements of evolution.
Resignation, therefore, is conquered through the non-violence of the spirit that overcomes vile passions and impulses, in order to build itself and triumph over itself and, consequently, over the negative factors that obstruct its liberating progress.

In your personal commitment of continuous renewal with Jesus,
be wary of circumstantial factors, subtle and dangerous, which insinuate themselves into you, later becoming your merciless executioners.
The acid of ingratitude, the gall of lingering bitterness, the vinegar of constant revolt, the truculence of rebellion, the shadow of doubt, the blade of slander, the poison of anger, the verdigris of laziness, and an entire procession that slowly penetrates, dominates the gears of your labor, jamming the machine of your aspirations and besieging you in the dark corner of skepticism or in the deep pit of loneliness.
Instead of them, allow to settle within you the exhausting labor for good, the aroma of hope in actions, the oil of optimism in pieces rusted by disappointment, the flame of joy in every activity, the presence of tolerance in the struggle, the embrace of authentic fraternity with others, the peace of patience, and the seasoning of good humor, in an encouraging way for the opportune moments when problems seem to threaten to consume you.
There is no lack of conspirators against peace in the fields of our good living.
However, the stimuli of sanctification also proliferate when we turn to the spheres of light.
Fixing your eyes on the sun and letting yourself be dazzled by it, it is natural that you may not always stop on the ground and your feet may be wounded, struck by the thistle and the stone you will have to tread.
Nevertheless, upon reaching the plateau that dazzles you ahead, where you will be able to glimpse the endless horizons of the fullness of life, the obstacles overcome that remained behind, the problems surmounted that you left aside, will be of minor importance.
Each soul, however, goes as far as it can.
Do not be among those who collect grievances, who desert, who distrust, who ruminate over inner despairs, who modify the structure of facts at the whim of inner imbalance.
Son of divine light, marching toward the Father, leave the berries of love like drops of dew and affection along the paths traveled, because man will always be, sooner or later, what he makes of himself.
Strong, he must overcome passions; weak, he must strengthen himself in Christ for the victory over himself.
And surrendering yourself in an atmosphere of total trust in God, you will triumph, because such is the goal destined for all of us.

O HEROÍSMO DA RESIGNAÇÃO
O imediatismo dos interesses apaixonados confunde-a com demência ou tem-na em conta de deficiência de forças para poder investir violentamente contra as circunstâncias. Não falta quem se rebele contra os seus necessários impositivos. Taxam-na de cobardia moral. Crêem-na ultrapassada, nos dias voluptuosos do tecnicismo moderno. Todavia, a resignação é bênção lenificadora, quando a vida responde em dor e sombra, infortúnio e dificuldade aos apelos do homem. Alternativa redentora, que somente os bravos sc conseguem impor, reforça os valores espirituais para as lutas mais ingentes da inteligência e do sentimento. Não deflui de uma atitude de medo, porqüanto isto seria receio injustificado ante as Leis Superiores, mas resulta de morigerada e lúcida reflexão que favorece o perfeito entendimento das imposições evolutivas. O conhecimento dos fatores causais dos sofrimentos premia o homem com a tranqüila responsabilidade que assume, em relação aos gravames que os motivaram. * Quiçá a resignação exija mais força dinâmica da coragem para submeterse, do que requereria a reação rebelada da violência. Entrementes, a atitude resignada não significa parasitismo nem desinteresse pela luta. A própria reencarnação é um ato de submissão, quanto a desencarnação, desde que ocorrem à mercê da vontade do aprendiz que se deve resignar às exigências superiores da evolução. Resignação, por conseguinte, é conquistada da não-violência do espírito que supera paixões e impulsos vis, a fim de edificar-se e triunfar sobre si mesmo em conseqüência, sobre os fatores negativos que lhe obstaculam o avanço libertador.

Sua missão foi ardua, mas seu legado é de luz.

📚 O Episódio do Encadernador – “Esta obra salvou-me a vida"

Respeitoso abraço.
Com a minha gratidão, remeto-lhe o livro anexo, bem como a sua história, rogando-lhe, antes de tudo, prosseguir em suas tarefas de esclarecimento da Humanidade, pois tenho fortes razões para isso.
Sou encadernador desde a meninice, trabalhando em grande casa desta capital.
Há cerca de dois anos casei-me com aquela que se revelou minha companheira ideal.
Nossa vida corria normalmente e tudo era alegria e esperança, quando, no início deste ano, de modo inesperado, minha Antoinette partiu desta vida, levada por sorrateira moléstia.
Meu desespero foi indescritível e julguei-me condenado ao desamparo extremo.
Sem confiança em Deus, sentindo as necessidades do homem do mundo e vivendo com as dúvidas aflitivas de nosso século, resolvera seguir o caminho de tantos outros, ante a fatalidade...
A prova da separação vencera-me, e eu não passava, agora, de trapo humano. Faltava ao trabalho e meu chefe, reto e ríspido, ameaçava-me com a dispensa. Minhas forças fugiam.
Namorava diversas vezes o rio Sena e acabei planejando o suicídio. “Seria fácil, não sei nadar” – pensava.

“Esta obra salvou-me a vida. Leia-a com atenção e tenha bom proveito.” — A. Laurent.
Estupefato, li a obra — O Livro dos Espíritos — ao qual acrescentei breve mensagem, volume esse que passo às suas mãos abnegadas, autorizando o distinto amigo a fazer dele o que lhe aprouver.
Ainda constavam da mensagem agradecimentos finais, a assinatura, a data e o endereço do remetente.
O Codificador desempacotou, então, um exemplar de O Livro dos Espíritos ricamente encadernado, em cuja capa viu as iniciais do seu pspseudônimo na página do frontispício, levemente manchada, leu com emoção não somente a observação a que o missivista se referira, mas também outra, em letra firme:
“Salvou-me também. Deus abençoe as almas que cooperaram em sua publicação. — Joseph Perrier.”
Após a leitura da carta providencial, o Professor Rivail experimentou nova luz a banhá-lo por dentro…
Conchegando o livro ao peito, raciocinava, não mais em termos de desânimo ou sofrimento, mas sim na pauta de radiosa esperança.
Era preciso continuar, desculpar as injúrias, abraçar o sacrifício e desconhecer as pedradas…
Diante de seu espírito turbilhonava o mundo necessitado de renovação e consolo.
Allan Kardec levantou-se da velha poltrona, abriu a janela à sua frente, contemplando a via pública, onde passavam operários e mulheres do povo, crianças e velhinhos…
O notável obreiro da Grande Revelação respirou a longos haustos e, antes de retomar a caneta para o serviço costumeiro, levou o lenço aos olhos e limpou uma lágrima…
Esse relato é atribuído ao espírito Hilário Silva, conforme obra “O Espírito da Verdade”, Lição nº 52, página 125, psicografado por Francisco Cândido Xavier.
🛡️ Síntese e Agradecimentos
Kardec mostrou que a Terceira Revelação une os três campos do conhecimento humano: Filosofia, Ciência e Religião.
O lema da Doutrina é inequívoco: “Fora da caridade não há salvação.”
E a trajetória espiritual do homem se expressa no lema:
“Nascer, morrer, renascer ainda e progredir sempre, tal é a lei.”
Este episódio do encadernador não foi apenas um milagre individual, mas um momento simbólico: a vida resgatada pela luz de um livro espiritual.
A carta enviada a Kardec chegou em momento de desânimo, reacendeu-lhe o ânimo e fortaleceu a convicção de prosseguir na missão de esclarecimento da humanidade.
Agradecimento profundo a todos os mensageiros da luz, aos médiuns e espíritos cooperadores, e ao próprio Kardec, que perseverou mesmo nas horas sombrias.

MORAL LAWS OF LIFE

The moral laws of life are of all times, established by the Supreme Father.
Inviolable, they constitute the roadmap of happiness along the evolutionary path, gradually imposing themselves on human intelligence, being established on the foundations of the perfect harmony in which Creation is balanced.
Revealed through the ages, little by little, they are not subjected to the transitory injunctions of human passions, which have always desired to standardize them to their own liking, submitting them to their vile determinations.
Inspired to humanity by the living forces of Nature since the days of primitive man, they came to constitute the higher religious ethics of all peoples and all nations.
Natural laws of love, justice and equity, they are the balance of the conquest of the spirit, which, in the preservation of its sublime codes and in the living of its legislation, draws its own greatness and fullness.
The contempt, the disobedience to its codes engenders the suffering and disorder of the offender, who in no way can escape the readjustment produced by the rebellion or insanity he carries.
Prophets, legislators and sages have been the malleable instruments used by the Loving Father through the ages, so that man, in the carnal prison, might find the safe path to reach the blissful kingdom that awaits him.
Among all, however, Jesus was the prototype of divine mercy, “the most perfect type that God has offered to man, to serve as a guide and model,” the very Solar King.
Living in all fullness the statute of the “moral laws,” he fulfilled those of human order, submitting himself peacefully, inaugurating the period founded on the law of love, which sums up all the others and commands them with unsurpassed mastery.
A model to be followed, he taught by example and by sacrifice, sealing in supreme testimony the excellence of his loving messianism, through the donation of life, urging us to incorporate into the daily life of existence the irrefutable lesson of his sanctifying self-offering.
We were inspired to elaborate this Work by the incomparable “The Spirits’ Book,” by Allan Kardec, Part 3, “On Moral Laws” (*).
We do not intend to produce a work of doctrinal exegesis, but to glean some concepts and current opinions in the noble and relevant lessons set forth therein, since we consider the Kardecian Work unsurpassable and of profound immediacy, the faithful repository of the Consoler, as promised by Jesus.
We divided our study into the eleven moral laws, according to the Kardecian classification, making use of varied subjects for the meditation and inner renewal of those interested in the Spiritist Doctrine, or who in the abyss of these days of unrest suffer the thirst for God, ask from on High immediate answers to afflicting questions, seek guidance.
Man travels with his formidable space rockets outside the orbit of the Earth, and yet he does not know himself.
He discovers the world that fascinates him and does not penetrate the moral responsibilities that belong to him.
He alters the face of the planet he inhabits and pretends to modify the “moral laws” that govern the Universe, plunging, then, into deep bitterness.
He presents valuable concepts and bold mathematical conceptions, unveiling the laws of gravitation, of the agglutination of molecules, of the genetic structure of beings, and yet he imposes absurd determinations in the moral field, legalizing abortion, resurrecting the death penalty, programming the family through dubious, precipitate processes, advocating the dissolution of matrimonial bonds stimulated by terrible licentiousness, fomenting war...
There is pain and madness, hunger, moral and social misery on a large scale, an unequivocal testimony of the moral primitivism that prevails in so-called civilized individuals and collectivities.
The moral laws of life are unpostponable.
No one overthrows them; no one underestimates them with impunity; no one ignores them, even if desiring to do so.
They are engraved in the conscience of creatures.
Even the brute feels them in the form of impulses or by the shining of its transcendent greatness in the dawn of intelligence.
Immutable laws, they are the laws of life.
Some of these pages appeared opportunely in print, in Spiritist journalism as well as secular.
Here some are reworked, others readjusted by ourselves, for better integration in the whole of the Work.
The modest contribution now gathered in a volume aims to awaken elevated feelings, to enlighten minds in affliction or asleep in ignorance of spiritual truths, contributing with the “Voices of Heaven” in the goal of building the new humanity with Jesus for the coming Millennium.
Considering ourselves a worker who recognizes her little worth, we implore the protection of the Incomparable Master for all of us, his imperfect yet loving disciples who we try to be.
